Sansa Asylum

Strolling and close-up magic in Los Angeles

Performed a few feet from the audience, for three or four people at a time, while the rest of the event carries on around it. Mentalism and real mind-reading, card magic, and borrowed objects. No stage, no sound system, no one asked to sit down.

Two ways to do it

Strolling

Also called roaming, walk-around, or mix-and-mingle magic. Sansa moves through the room, reads which groups are open to it, performs, finishes cleanly, and moves on without interrupting service or conversation. At a seated dinner this becomes table-hopping between courses, coordinated with catering and speeches.

Best for cocktail hours, receptions, holiday parties, and any event where guests are standing, eating, drinking, and moving around. Bookings run from one to five hours. Larger crowds, multiple rooms, or a long arrival window need more time.

The velvet close-up table

A small portable table Sansa brings and sets up as a station. Guests gather around it on their own, so it works in a room where roaming would be awkward, or as a fixed spot near the bar or lounge that people return to all night.

Both formats can be combined with a short stage show for events that have a seated portion.

How it's quoted

Every booking is quoted individually, based on the length of the performance, the guest count, the date, and any customization, staging, or travel involved. Close-up and strolling magic is booked for one to five hours.

The quote is written and spells out what's included: performance time, setup, travel and parking within the LA area, and any planning or customization. The fastest way to get one is a free 15-minute consultation.

What the venue needs to provide

Room to circulate and a sound level where guests can hear normal conversation. That's it. Don't place the magic directly beside a DJ, band, or loudspeaker.

For outdoor events, plan for lighting after dark, shade when it's hot, and a protected backup location for wind or rain.
